Hello Sleepers,
If you followed us closely you know that we announced in January 2024 that we are supporting our friends from Funcom to bring their vision of Arrakis to life. After a lot of hard work and a great collaboration between our two studios, we are happy to hear that Dune: Awakening is launching on PC May 20, 2025.
The story has changed
Let us look at what Funcom has planned for their take on the Dune universe;
“The Fremen have vanished. Paul Atreides was never born. Lady Jessica obeyed the Bene Gesserit and gave birth to a girl. Duke Leto Atreides survived the assault on Arrakeen and is now locked in a brutal conflict with the Harkonnen over Arrakis and its precious spice.
In this unique but still familiar take on the iconic sci-fi universe of Dune, you begin as a prisoner sent to Arrakis to uncover the mystery of the Fremen’s disappearance. Following in the footsteps of the mysterious desert tribe, you will learn the true meaning of desert power as you rise from a nameless survivor to becoming an agent of the Atreides or the Harkonnen.”

With such a compelling backdrop for your adventures on Arrakis, here is some additional detail about the game itself:
“Alone, with friends, or any of the hundreds of players you share Arrakis with, can you survive the most dangerous planet in the universe?
UNITE or compete with other survivors – or choose to play alone. Dune: Awakening features a highly immersive and persistent online world shared with thousands of other characters and several hundred people playing concurrently. PvP is always optional.
MASTER one or all the Great Schools of the Imperium: Bene Gesserit, Trooper, Mentat, Swordmaster, and Planetologist. Use manipulation and trickery, poison and grenades, dart rifles and crysknives. And remember: the slow blade penetrates the shield.”

What you can do in the meantime, and it is something you should absolutely do as you can grab some sweet loot, is to download the Character Creator and Benchmark on Steam.
You will be able to go through the full character creation and check how well the game will run on your system. Besides the character being saved and useable for you once the game launches, you will be able to get a nice knife skin for doing so – The Frameblade.
Besides the free skin, folks that pre-order the game will receive a nice item to decorate your home. All pre-orders of Dune: Awakening will receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, an in-game housing item that houses our favorite desert mouse.
